From Inertial Data to Gait Analysis

As someone walks with a phone in their pocket, the phone’s sensors detect the repetitive cyclic activity we discussed at the beginning of the chapter.

No two people’s patterns are the same, and Gait can vary significantly with different factors such as age, health conditions, and injuries.

Every change in gait and motion changes the trajectory of the phone and therefore changes the parameters. The phone’s motion creates a repetitive pattern unique to each individual, allowing a personalized analysis of gait, like would be done in a gait lab.
